Coffee or Tea? Which One Wins the Highest Antioxidant Challenge?

The world loves coffee…..we know. Tea though has been around for longer and is enjoyed by more people around the world. Just like coffee, it is high in antioxidants but is a better option for your health. Coffee is usually consumed with sugar and cream or milk and these greatly diminish the antioxidant value of coffee when consumed. Tea on the other hand is usually consumed without milk or sugar (Unless your English or Australian) In particular, green tea and is known for its anti-oxidant levels. Oolong tea, black tea, white tea, and green tea are all of the of the same herbal origin. The only differences occur because the types of processing done to them to attain the desired levels of oxidation are different. Green tea contains epigallocatechin which has the kind of anti-oxidants widely recommended for their health benefits. Some researchers however contend that the only research that was conducted was done on the green tea and it did not include the other forms of teas. The white tea has had many tests done on it because it contains high levels of antioxidants.
